About the Role

Golden Masala Indian Cuisine is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef specializing in North Indian cuisine to lead our kitchen team in Kelowna, BC.
As the Head Chef, you will play a key role in maintaining the quality, authenticity, consistency, and presentation of our food. You will oversee daily kitchen operations, supervise and guide kitchen staff, coordinate food preparation and service, and ensure that every dish meets Golden Masala’s standards.
The Head Chef will be responsible for preparing and overseeing a wide range of authentic North Indian dishes, maintaining recipes and portion standards, monitoring food quality, managing kitchen organization and inventory, minimizing food waste, and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are consistently followed.
We are looking for an experienced culinary professional with strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of North Indian cuisine, and a passion for delivering consistently high-quality food in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional cooking experience in Indian cuisine, with strong experience in North Indian cuisine, is required.

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef, Senior Chef, or similar leadership position is strongly preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of authentic North Indian cooking techniques, ingredients, spices, recipes, and flavour profiles.

  • Must be highly experienced in preparing a wide range of North Indian dishes, including curries, gravies, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, appetizers, rice dishes, and traditional specialties.

  • Strong ability to maintain consistent taste, quality, portion size, and presentation across all dishes.

  • Ability to lead, train, supervise, and coordinate kitchen staff.

  • Ability to organize kitchen operations and manage food preparation during busy service periods.

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, food storage, inventory control, portion control, sanitation, and kitchen safety.

  • Ability to monitor ingredient quality and minimize food waste.

  • Ability to maintain Golden Masala's recipes and food-quality standards.

  • FOODSAFE Level 1 certification is required.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and time-management skills.

  • Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work effectively under pressure.

  • Must be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
