About the Role
Golden Masala Indian Cuisine is seeking an experienced and reliable Tandoor Cook to join our kitchen team. We are a family-owned restaurant specializing in authentic North Indian cuisine in Kelowna, BC.
As a Tandoor Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of traditional tandoor dishes, including tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, kebabs, paneer tikka, naan, roti, and other tandoor specialties. You will prepare marinades, operate the tandoor safely, monitor cooking temperatures, and ensure consistent taste, quality, portion size, and presentation.
You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized tandoor station, following food safety procedures, and working closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure orders are prepared accurately and efficiently.
We are looking for someone with strong tandoor experience who can work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining Golden Masala’s standards for authenticity, quality, and consistency.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of professional experience working as a Tandoor Cook is preferred.
Strong knowledge of traditional North Indian tandoor cooking techniques.
Experience preparing a variety of tandoori dishes, including tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, kebabs, paneer tikka, naan, roti, and other tandoor specialties.
Ability to properly operate and maintain a traditional tandoor oven.
Knowledge of marinades, Indian spices, ingredients, cooking temperatures, and preparation techniques.
Ability to maintain consistent taste, quality, portion size, and presentation.
Ability to prepare food efficiently and accurately during busy service periods.
FOODSAFE Level 1 certification is required.
Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, proper food handling, and storage procedures.
Ability to keep the tandoor station clean, organized, and properly maintained.
Must be reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a kitchen team.
Must be available for flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
